What you'll be doing
Fourteen skills, one hero
Quarrying, logging, angling, smithing, alchemy, spellcraft and more. Every skill levels on its own curve, and your character level is the average of all of them, so a well-rounded hero beats a one-trick one. Gather in the fields yourself, or hire workers who keep producing while you sleep.
A world the Blight is swallowing
Five kingdoms, twenty areas, and a corruption that spreads while you play. Fight through bandit foothills and frozen reaches, cleanse corrupted ground, and uncover why the old Wardens sealed what they sealed. Region bosses guard the road; the Sundered God waits at the end of it.
Dungeons that show you the odds
Every dungeon room offers three ways forward, each with its exact defeat chance printed on the card. The safe road pays modestly. The tempting one pays double, and something is breathing behind the door. Bank your haul and walk out, or push one room deeper. The dungeon has no bottom.
Idle when you are, active when you want
Workers gather, craft, and fight for you around the clock. Come back to a stocked warehouse, spend it on gear upgrades, then take the wheel for boss fights, world boss sieges with your whole server, guild raids, and arena duels that your workers cannot do for you.
Guilds, raids, and a shared world boss
Found a guild or apply to one that vets its members. Pool resources, unlock guild-wide bonuses, and bring down raid bosses together. When the world boss rises, every player on the server fights the same monster, and the top contributors carry home regalia the rest can only chase.
Gear worth showing off
Eleven tiers of equipment from copper to voidsteel, each with its own look, plus boss uniques, dungeon-exclusive relics, and Hollow-forged chase items with drop rates measured in fractions of a percent. Your paper doll wears what you equip, piece by piece.
How a session goes
You start in the Green Plains, the last safe corner of the map, with empty pockets and a rusty sword. Mine some stone, catch a fish, cook it, and take the first quest off the village board. Within a few minutes you will have hired your first worker, and from then on the kingdom works for you even while the tab is closed.
Check in when it suits you: turn in the daily quests, spend a dungeon key on a run where every door shows you its danger before you open it, throw your soldiers at the world boss, and put your gold into the gear that gets you into the next region. The Blight does not wait, but neither does your warehouse.
Deeper in, the game opens up: talents to spec, items to reforge and enchant, a guild to run, an arena ladder to climb, corrupted ground to cleanse, and an endgame tower where your gear stays at the door and only your choices matter. Everything is documented, in detail, in the in-game wiki, the same one linked below.
The player's handbook
Every system in the game has a wiki page with the real numbers: drop rates, XP curves, boss mechanics, and crafting recipes, generated from the same data the game runs on.
Frequently asked questions
Is Kingdoms of Iron free to play?
Yes, completely. Every skill, dungeon, boss, and region is free. The only purchases are optional cosmetic skins that change how your hero looks, never how strong they are.
Do I need to download or install anything?
No. Kingdoms of Iron runs in your browser on desktop and mobile. Click Play Free, pick a name, and you are in the game within seconds, no account required to start.
Does the game progress while I'm offline?
Yes. Workers you hire keep gathering, crafting, and fighting while the tab is closed. Come back to a stocked warehouse, spend it, and set the next batch to work.
Is it pay-to-win?
No. Nothing you can buy affects your stats, drops, or progress. Purchases are cosmetic only.
Can I play with friends?
Yes. Join or found a guild, raid bosses together, fight the shared server-wide world boss, duel in the arena, and invite friends for referral rewards on both sides.
